I was thinking about The Shark, by Roald Dahl. It's not too long.

Also the Belloc poems lend themselves to high drama in delivery, which kids seem to love ![]() |

Henry King is a favourite too, Matilda maybe a bit too dramatic for right now...

Purps
How is everyone? We've had a fairly good week, my eldest is quite a whingebag about doing anything related to maths, or something she doesn't particularly want to do, but we got there in the end. I've kept it mostly relaxed, the children know what's going on each day and so we have a plan in place, but each day is different so far. I am exhausted though! |

Well done, purps! I'm very lucky with 1 child for 2 days a week... It's a lot more intense than I expected. School put stuff on during the day, so it's hard to plan the day in advance - I think I'll get a better idea next week.

Son 2 has finally emerged from his bedroom and is watching Top Gear. He did spend half an hour telling me about the Mercator projection, the Holy Roman Empire, the history of German unification (not the recent one) and the Dutch East India company. He learns and retains so much stuff from YouTube it’s frightening. No idea if he’s done any school work but he will if he wants to. He’s disgusted at my ignorance of history but happy to home educate me ![]() |
