First memory I can date, I was just short of 5 years old. Loads of clearer ones from about the time my younger brother was born, when I'd have been 8. My sister remembers things that would have been when she was 2, which is impressive.

A feeling of existential dread / ennui at primary school. It’s been with me ever since. I hated being young

I remember the Cuban missile crisis which was Oct 1962. I would have just been 5. I also remember farthings, although they stopped being legal tender in 1961 some of the shopkeepers in the village kept accepting them for a couple of years afterwards. I bought some sweets from the local sweet shop using some I found in the ashtray by the front door.
Oddly I have a very clear memory of seeing the steeple of the drowned church in Ladybower reservoir when I was taken on holiday there. Except I can't have done. It was demolished before I was born...

Yorkshire Pie
I moved house just after I turned 6 and I remember things from before the move - school, a couple of birthday parties, the calendar on the wall in my neighbours house. I *think* I remember playgroup but that could be me making up what playgroup would have been like. There is one event that I think I remember when I taught my sister how to lock herself in the loo and she had to be rescued by the fire brigade but I might just be remembering the re-tellings of it.

I remember my pre-school playgroup, so 3.5 to 4 years old - at least a boy I was a friend with. My parents shared drop off / pick up with a neighbour who had a boy of a similar age. Sometimes I went back to his farm to play, but then he went to a different primary school to me so never really saw him again.
I remember my first primary school teacher - she took me to school from home on my first day.
I had a bit of a trauma at about 18mths - which I think has stuck with me as a memory, in part at least. I fell in a stream and was covered by a waterfall of water pouring over me, until my dad hoiked me out.
I was scared of water for many years afterwards - my mum had to bathe me in the sink until I was too big. I used to sit on the drainer with my feet in the sink. When I was too big for the sink, I used to stand in the bath. Finally I was coaxed enough to kneel down in the bath. All of this was before I was 7 or 8.
I remember much of primary school - the different class rooms for each year group, most of the kids in my year (I went to a different secondary school to most of them, so they weren't in my life from 11 years old).
I also had a bad stammer / stutter as a child. I can resonate with DT's 'dread' - and that probably focused my mind and engrained the memories a bit more.
Outside my world, the earliest memory I have was the 1978 World Cup - so I'd be 8 and a half - the ticker tape in Argentina, Archie Gemmill's wonder goal.

In terms of external events, the first one I really remember is Challenger when I'd have been 7.

Too Much Water
My brother being born when I was 2. Quite a lot of first year of school. But not where I left my beanie hat on Saturday.

Personal events.. I remember falling out of my high chair. Dad picked me up and gave me some orange segments. My first taste of orange. Unsure of age. I remember my cousin's 3rd birthday party. She had a cake shaped like a tortoise with chocolate buttons on. I also distinctly remember the house they lived in back then. What's weird is my cousin is only 10 months older than me so I was barely 2. Relatives have corroborated my story/memories though so they're genuine.
External events.. I remember the silver jubilee. I wore a gold paper crown and a white dress and mum stitched red and blue crepe paper flowers on it for the street party. Maybe in hindsight thats more of a personal memory after all!

Ok external events... Vividly remember the Falklands war when I was 8. Probably other earlier stuff too but can't think offhand.
