I've deferred to 2022. I'm confident things will be back to something like normal by then. I'm not convinced that we'll be managing mass events next spring. I don't really want to go and stay a couple of nights in Brighton just for, in effect, a 10k, either, just yet.

Looks like it's still going ahead - I've just (finally!) had a mail asking if I'm available to volunteer.

Well, the 2020 BMW II date has come and gone, and The Edit is still very much going ahead on 11 October.

Didn't run this weekend as something popped in my chest while gardening (probably just a muscle) and it's a bit sore. For me, just doing the four 5-milers plus The Edit 10k is about the best I am going to manage. Hopefully, the race packs, etc. will be dispatched this week.

Anyone else registered for The Edit?

Yes I am, keeping fingers crossed it will go ahead. Doing 2 x 10m though probably 4 x 5m would have been more sensible.

Not signed up for the edit.

Might still last minute - if they keep places open - if we decide on a visit to stay with the in-laws but with ever changing regulation who knows what will be permitted.

Manchester have deferred spring 2021 to autumn 2021. I wonder if some others might do likewise. My Brighton April 2021 may yet be at risk...

Thanks George. Still a bit sore but not too bad if I don't overexert myself.

Got the e-mail at lunchtime regarding The Edit cancellation. I'm not overly surprised considering this week's news.

A bit disappointed but it just means that everyone who wants to take part must do the whole 26.2 miles virtually. I'm still going to do the five shorter distances, especially as my chest injury is a bit uncomfortable for anything longer. I was also finding it hard to coerce someone to be my spectator and hold my baggage during the run anyway.

The Edit virtual runs can start from today.

My Edit pack has still not arrived. Apart from the technical shirt, I am, not too concerned as I am logging my multiple runs on Race Roster rather than the App.

Chest is much better but then started getting neck spasms which have resulted in a sore neck. Spasms have almost gone but will probably start my virtual runs at the weekend.

About This Thread

Maintained by Surrey Phil
The eleventh Brighton Marathon has been cancelled and is being replaced by The Edit on Sunday 11 October. Either run a virtual marathon between 30 September and 11 October or run 20 miles during the same period and complete the final 6.2 miles along the seafront.
