She had help from a lot of local runners organised by Billy Reed, at least one per leg. After supporting her at each changeover I ran the last leg and was unpleasantly surprised how quickly she was still moving. The descent from the final top (Slieve Commadagh) was particularly fast for me, when Carol realised she could get under her original target of 16:30. The following weekend, a friend also based in the Lakes (Kirsty Hewitson) became the first woman to complete all 4 big UK rounds when she ran the Rankin in 17:39. I think the NI runners were pleased to show off their hills in such beautiful conditions.
