Dom acquitted himself quite well last time iirc. It takes real pluck to see a quality athlete with an excellent pedigree struggle while undertaking a monumental challenge and to then raise the bar . . .

I think you have to look at his previous attempt in the context of the level of performance exhibited by the sort of people he is trying to get amongst (rather than what the rest of us mortals would be capable of). He managed to cover about 100 miles (of a 325 (ish) mile route) in around 3 days 10 hours (his split at Bowfell). Sabrina passed the same point almost exactly 2 days quicker. Now I know he was in February and largely solo but to me that just isn't even close to being in the same game. A sensible projection from that rate of progress would give him an overall time somewhere in the region of two weeks. Which would be an impressive feat of endurance but it isn't headline grabbing, sponsorship deal stuff (as a comparison Simon Barnett's low key, camping every night, no publicity walk round the Wainwrights in 2017 took 15 days). For me unless he gets comfortably under 10 days the reality will be an awful long way short of the hype. In his favour this time is that 1st December is more likely to avoid siginificant snow but in recent years the Lake District has been hit with several significant storms at that time of year.

I think he will start in December fozzy because he sees it as low hanging fruit but how far he will get is another matter,

I guess like I considered going for the London loop because it was unclaimed but someone has now done that so I either do it for fun, go ACW or solo solo/self supported.

Pinching part of a post by James Adams (Binks) on the fb ultrarunning page
"Now if I understand the concept of an FKT correctly, it's picking a route no one can be arsed running on, mimbling around it eating ice cream and burgers, setting a Fastest Known Time by virtue of it being the Only Known Time and then lauding it as the Spalding Gazzette calls for you to be made a Knight of the Realm and put straight into the Olympics."
