Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Blind Dan walked for Look. See the video clip on the Birmingham news site (http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2010/10/24/birmingham-half-marathon-sun-shines-as-15-000-pound-streets-97319-27535220/#ixzz13JKmhG7L) at 1:05. His aim was 3:45. I started 7 mins after the gun and passed him after about 1 min of running so he must have let most of the speedy people go first and then set off after about 5 mins. He was in the crowd a bit but not in the way.

So disappointing to have my 'home' race seen as a farce, it was really badly organised and whoever planned that route was clearly not a runner! There are so many beautiful roads and routes around the city centre surrounding suburbs it could have been a lovely, flat, fast run. The way the start went from a three lane motorway to a single lane b road 30m from the start was ridiculous, I nearly ran into the barrier at full speed. Luckily I was ahead of the traffic at the end but if I had been caught up in the traffic I would have been furious. Organisers pull your finger out next year.
