Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm at a conference at the NCC in Birmingham and staying overnight. I'd like to fit in a run tonight, but the NEC site doesn't feel particularly pedestrian friendly. Do any locals have a route recommendation? Happy to drive a short distance.

I've organised conferences at the onsite hotel in the past and had no problem constructing a reasonable run using the footpaths around the lake/ resorts world and plenty of attendees did the same. I don't think there's any easy way to run off the site - it is somewhat hemmed in by the motorway and railway line, but maybe a local will have a better idea.

Thanks Cerrer, that's good to know, I'm the other side of the motorway during the day so will explore a bit later.

When I went to the Running Show back in 2020, I ran from the PI to Babbs Mill (for parkrun) and back again. Route is here: fetcheveryone.com/routes-view.php?id=1831718

westmoors thank you for your suggestion. I ran last night, slightly longer than intended (as I did get a bit lost - not as good at mapreading as I thought). But having your route gave me the confidence to go out in an area I don't know, so a big thank you.

Got something to say?
