Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

A real question. I'm rather hopeless. I can bake bread, but most other stuff I try turns out rather wrongly. May have a go at a sponge.

I like baking, and eating the results :-) Attempting a victoria sponge and an apple pie for the weekend.

Ruth - the key to good sponge is starting with all your ingredients at room temp so take the eggs out of the fridge if that's where you usually keep them a good couple of hours before you want to start

...and make sure you have enough ingredients for the size of tin :-) The Bero recipe is a 2 egg mixture for a 7inch sandwich tin, but my tins mean I have to use a 4 or 5 egg mixture :-)

...and the best thing about baking is that you get to lick the bowl ;-)

Licking the bowl isn't as good when you're baking bread :)
