Yes I do have to have one. I appreciate the joys of proper home made bread but I need a middle ground - and the kids love waking up to fresh bread, and Cedd loves lobbing the ingredients in and having a batch of pizza dough ready to use a bit later in the day.

Panasonic SD2500. It's fab. Though my husband insists on calling it "the bread bin", mainly in order to annoy me.

Hourglass - your flapjack recipe worked a treat :-). I adjusted it slightly, mainly so I could use a block of butter each time rather than trimming a bit off the end! I made cherry and coconut ones today at work (I run a small works cafe) and while they were cooling on the side ready to be bagged and labelled by my assistant they all sold out! So, now I need some good varied combinations to put in them. I got a bag of dried fruit from my supplier which looks nice, and from that I can make apricot and pear, apple, apple and cinnamon etc etc and I'll probably get some seeds in too. Any suggestions? Nothing to fancy! I have already had to tell someone that they will not be getting goji berry and pistachio flapjack!! |

I have a Panasonic but I only use the dough function as I don't like weird rectangular loaves. Plus the kids will hoover up everything in sight if it's in roll format rather than loaf format and bonus is no crumbs over the whole kitchen. I like making weird shaped small loaves too. Flapjacks, mmm. Dangerous. |

Hello peoples! I am having a frugal christmas and was thinking about doing some baking and putting it in nice boxes instead of buying presents. Any nice Christmassy suggestions?

Yes, I have a load of lovely recipes. Will see where they are... Shortbread is a good one. Cut into Christmassy shapes. How about lemon curd? (scrummy) Someplace I have some other good ones too. |

rocky road HP - its my answer to everything!!! I make it using all supermarket value choc, rich tea biscuits, butter and syrup! Oh - home-made lemon curd - that sounds like something I would like ![]() |

I make raspberry curd, and I've made rhubarb curd. Home-made stuff doesn't keep a massively long time though. Though raspberry curd goes straight into my gob within days anyway! Orange curd is nice too.

for your flapjack Liliaicha - how about adding cranberries? or ginger? Halfpint - I always make biscotti at Christmas - easy and they keep for ages and look pretty in nice bags with a ribbon; also I have a gorgeous ginger & clementine relish - quite spicy and that looks nice in jars and people love getting that too |
