Applying a bit more weighting to training pace, I get these results for Icemaiden's 2:02 - CASE 1 PREDICTS 01:57:00 CASE 2 PREDICTS 01:51:10 CASE 3 PREDICTS 01:58:38 CASE 4 PREDICTS 02:04:51 CASE 5 PREDICTS 02:08:01 losing the 1:45, and tightening things up. If I apply the same weights back to Nelly's marathon, I get: CASE 1 PREDICTS 03:26:27 CASE 2 PREDICTS 03:28:12 CASE 3 PREDICTS 03:46:37 CASE 4 PREDICTS 03:49:20 CASE 5 PREDICTS 03:27:10 so that's a re-ordering of the ones we'd already seen. I'm definitely definitely going back to code in the new scoring method for the 'speedwork' attribute now. By the way... if I get this right, imagine how much fun I'm going to have improving the betting game ![]() |

If I could train a minute a mile faster then I would expect my HM to improve by at least a minute a mile too because I do my training using the HR mantra of long slow miles at sub 70% WHR. So how does the training predict the outcome? I'm still not sure I know where you're going with this yet.

No, there's too many numbers - the stuff at the top says you're trying to make a training plan generator which is why I mentioned 'the button' as meaning at some point one will be able to say something along the lines of - I am running xx race in yy weeks, I want to run zz time and I can train a times per week, press the button and abracadabra there's your plan. So I am not sure how finding 5 other people who run HMs in the same time with the same training schedule is going to help us get to how I should train for my next HM (assuming there is one).

IM - there's too much for me to precis, but if you want an overview of CBR and prepared to do a bit of reading, try here: en.wikipedia.org Colette - I'll have a look at the stuff I was doing the other day, but your recent training includes a long run of 9.36 miles in 1hr33 - if you can do a few more of those in the next month or so before Wokingham, and maybe inch up to 10-11 mile long runs, I reckon you're in a good position. |

Anyone around who'd like to be my guinea pig for the next 20 mins? Ideal if you've got a decent bit of training/race data recorded.
