Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Anyone know the area around Cambur Sands?

Greetings Fetchies!

Taking Mrs Bloom and mini-Bloom on our first family holiday next week. Just renting out a small apartment in Cambur Sands as not too far in terms of car travel to get there. We have a National Trust pass so are planning to visit Bodiam Castle but other than that we currently have no plans and no clue what is around the area.

So, if any Fetchies know the area and are able to recommend activities/places to go for a family with a six month old (or what to avoid, which can be equally as helpful), that would be lovely :-)

I can recommend lots of running - just go outside and follow your nose.

I will be packing my running shoes for sure. Hopefully the Boy allows me to get out for at least one run.

Bodiam castle is right next to Northiam Station which has a working steam train in daily use.. There's also Battle Abbey nearby and another castle ruin but both are English Heritage run.

There's the Dymchurch and Romney railway is nearby. Hastings is nice and has the cliff lift and caves/smugglers adventure which are worth a visit depending on how old mini-Bloom is.

Rye is very close and a lovely town to visit, especially if you like antique/junk shops. The glass expert from Antiques Roadshow has a shop there. Only downside is it's a bit narrow and some of the streets are cobbled so might be an issue with a pram.

Rye Harbour nature reserve is good for walks and birdwatching.

Oh nice, a nature reserve sounds perfect. We are there for the week so will likely give Rye itself a go, thanks everyone!

Rye also has a National Trust property - Lamb House. I've not visited it but I keep meaning to!
