Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Any Fetchie (rock) climbers out there?

If you've got time and inclination, there are loads of links here on training for climbing ukclimbing.com .

Of recent years Dave Macleod's book '9 out of 10 climbers' seems to have become something of a climbing training bible.

I would second MM's link to ukclimbing - phenomenal resource of the Fetch style "virtual-mates-down-the-pub" variety.

Time on the crag. Have I already mentioned that?

"9 out of 10 climbers" is excellent.

(Can you tell I'd rather read about how to train than actually do training?)

Thanks V'rap :) I'm really enjoying it!

Thank you for all of the links, I may have to purchase a book or two!

The great thing about going to a climbing wall is seeing all of the really good people: it makes me want to do what they can do and with the same elegance. One day!

Doesn't it just, Emmie! And one of the keys to breaking through the grades IS to climb fast and elegantly. There's a young lass who climbs eights at Kendal and she's brilliant to watch :)

Lovely day cragging at Cadshaw Castle Rocks with YP. Despite trying to convince herself she'd struggle on each route, she flew up them in great style. It also reminded me that I do really like lazy days on easy grit.

Not sure about flying up them, but I got more confident at standing on a ledge working out how to get over the tricky bits rather than bailing if I couldn't do it first time ;)

Rather pleased with myself now :)
