Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Has anyone tried any of the activity monitors e.g. jawbone, fitbit, garmin vivofit, nike fuelband? I've decided to get one to keep an eye on my general activity levels but not sure which is the best. Any advice gratefully received!!

I have a fitbit band thingy and OH has the Garmin equivalent. His tracks mileage better and adapts the targets to match what you are actually doing. But I prefer my fitbit, it links to the My Fitness Pal ap and monitors sleep really well. However his battery will last the year whereas I have to recharge every five days or so.
Funnily enough I am currently wearing a Bioback fitness monitor too! I'd love to see their faces when they download it since I have a long one this weekend :)

I've got the Fitbit flex and OH has the Garmin vivofit. I like mine best; OH prefers his!

I've got a Fitbit Flex too. i don't think it's very accurate. When I come the 10 miles into work on my motorbike, it gives me about 1000 steps!

It does look quite promising - is it waterproof?

Fitbit is shower proof which is good enough for me. I think the sleep tracking is better on the fit bit but it depends on what you want

My only advice would be to avoid getting a Nike fuelband. My sister has one and it seems to break all the time and getting it fixed/replaced takes ages.

Work gave me a fitbit one as part of a challenge they were doing last year. The first one lasted about 3 weeks before it stopped working - presumably sweat damage.

It was interesting for a while, and to see sleep etc. but I must admit I have not used it or charged it up since the challenge finished
