Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm just rewatching the first series of the Mandalorian, and have got to the bit when he's liberating Grogu. I'm left marvelling again at stormtrooper armour. What is it for? It offers no protection against lazer bolts or flamethrowers, electric shocks or punches. I suspect even mild tickling could be fatal for the unlucky stormtrooper...

Stormtrooper armour is another element of the Tarkin Doctrine, like Star Destroyers and the Death Star.

It's just designed to intimidate the populace to the extent that they never dare to fight back.

This intimidation element is particularly important as if anyone does fight back they realise that all three of the tings I've named are bloody useless in a fight!

I’ve never understood how stormtroopers can see anything through the visors. No wonder they can’t shoot straight or bump into things. Applies to Mandalorians too….. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mandalorian helmets have a whole range of tech built in the enhance the sensory input for the wearer. They’re supposed to have targeting facilities and all sorts. The first gen of clone helmets had similar but I think it was downgraded as more clones were grown and costs rose.
