Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Lots of good photos on here.

Was wondering if Um's flowers were fritillaries?

Wood sorrel has triple leaves, a bit like clover and shamrock. The leaves in Um's picture certainly look like wood anemone leaves.

Been for a long walk incorporating steep hills, stiles, gates, rough pasture, woodland. I think tomorrow may have to be a rest day.

Lovely pics HM. And agree with Dipps, a couple of miles for a leg stretch and some fresh air / reality after a work shift is work every minute xx

I still think it is wood anemone, just ones that haven't opened out fully yet.

In the meantime, while we're having a Nature Table, what do you call these flowers? They look white in the photo but they are very slightly lilac coloured. I've always known these as milkmaids but I gather they are called different names across the UK. I saw this patch yesterday, walking the dog.

)I know it's not a great photo but I had to lean over a fence :-) Sadly the field they're in is earmarked for housing development :-(

Definitely Lady's Smock. I have some in my garden, it grows up in the lawn, and it's so pretty I mow round it until it's finished flowering.
