Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

it is too slow, if you wanto improve your 5km then it needs to be 5km pace +10-15 seconds

Only done one 5k ever and if I'd known much then I would have been more delighted with the time of 21.51. I don't think I could get within 30 secs of that now but I'll be trying next Saturday. Would love to get sub 20 but I am trying to get sub 21 first.

Are you trying at one of the time trials, Big Al? I'll probably go to Bushy Park on Saturday but may not push it as I'm doing an aquathlon for fun the next day and don't want to wreck myself. Had to cut short my long run today as my left calf is tight and it's putting some stress on my ankle. Will not pick up an injury! All the stretching in the world doesn't seem to be enough - it just tightens back up again. Anyone got any good calf stretches to recommend?

aub - as Siouxsie says, good thread.

re BPTT and then your aquathlon - not sure you need to worry too much. A 5k is not as debilitating as a longer race (actually I found the Tooting Bec mile more debilitating!). My best 10ks last year were done the day after BPTT and BHTT respectively(when i also equalled my best 5ktimes for the year) and I felt strong all the way (though I expect I'd have gone faster without the 5ks!)

SteveV - wot Gobi says. I am fairly sure that this is what all the gurus suggest :-)

Hendo - if you don't puke you haven't tried hard enough. Puking blood is the best sign.

Mic - interesting stuff. re the 1500m intervals, when you say flat out, does that mean each rep should be run flat out, and as a result the first effort will be faster than the last, or does it mean as flat out as you can manage but keeping the pace the same for each effort?
