Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Bit below the curve at the mo, mainly due to no marathon training this spring and reducing miles to up intensity. Couple of early season PBs so can't complain. Will hopefully build consistency through the year and up the miles again

Starting to build weekly mileage again after a few weeks recovery :-) Interesting to see how the body reacts to a week of night shifts and mileage build. :-O

Ugh..had orthopaedic appointment about my arthritic hip. Told that it's grade 2-3 osteoarthritis..saw x rays etc. Advised to reduce if not curtail my distance running and take up another activity that's not impact producing. It will be looked at in one year's time but I'm not giving up lightly..and will do loads of research, do gym work etc to strengthen areas around the hip..and continue running! I'm too young for hip replacement really but also walk a lot in my work so intend to see what a year does before I throw my running shoes away! Anyone else have similar issues?

There's a chap at my work, a steady 45-min 10k runner and about your age, been diagnosed with the same thing. He seems to have cut back on physical activities quite a lot in the past year :(

I hope you find a way to keep fit and active.

Thanks folks..it's been a problem that's been developing over a period of twenty years---not running induced either. I WILL still be running but not 24 hours/100 milers and see what develops. I'm signed up for two 12 hour things over the next eight weeks. My times might not be quite as good but I'll do them! And besides, I've just had a new pair of running shoes!

21 miler on varying terrain today--on the early part of the Welsh Coastal Footpath. A route to be avoided in future! Too much industrial surrounding. The wind was tough too. Hip ok when running but a b****** at night.
