Steve, your post popped up whilst I was writing my last post.
Sorry to hear that your wife will no longer be able to run ultras. Well done for your 5k including intervals. That's the way ahead to up your average pace.
I agree, I'd rather be younger, but wouldn't want to be just starting work again.
Being a teenager in the sixties was amazing, compared with what teenagers today are facing.

Not good Steve, ref your wife, but can still run so that's a positive.
Sounds like there are a few niggles around, hope these heal quickly for you all.
Still recovering myself, so only walking, hope to go back to work next week, the infection has cleared and now off the anti-biotics, so hopefully will start to feel normal again soon.
Thanks
Take care

Back to work again RFJ! And feeling normal tooπ, that's even better. Walking distances is a perfect stay-healthy-keeping fit regime when we can't run so it's not just "only walking"... especially with those poles. Hey, sunshine π out there making the world look a bit more like May.

Good news RFJ. Sorry Mrs Steve has to cut down her mileage amazing what she can do after a new hip.
Hill reps ouch...so good for you HS. I had another track session tonight we did a Cooper Test. It is a 4 minute then 8 minute interval then 8 out of 9 effort to see how far you get in 12 minutes. We will get tested again in 2 months to see if we can go further.
Can you believe it is almost June? Might have a low mileage week next week as have 2 of the grand children for the school holidays.

Hill reps! Yeah..ouchable like LL said hs. Wife is still well over 100 a month, usually 130, too far for me!! I did my first Cooper test in 1979 and the good outcome was what motivated me to continue jogging!! Morning sunshine and a trail 5.2 with my wife gets me over the 500 mile mark.

Just took a look back at Cooper's book from 1976(!!)..the test at the time showed for women over aged over 50 : 0.85 miles in 12 minutes was considered fair; 1.05 miles- 1.34 miles was good and 1.35 miles excellent. At the moment I guess I fall into the fair category. Time to pull my socks up.

Thanks Steve I did 1.3 miles I think. It was 2100 metres. 5 laps and to the next corner.
Something to try and beat next time.
