About Me
I'm a member of The Vale of Aylesbury Athletic Club. I've been chucking spears, cannon balls and glorified frisbees for the club since 1996 but started getting more involved with the running side of things, firstly as a marshal and latterly as the entries/results man for a couple of races the club organises. In a moment of alcohol-induced madness a few years ago, I decided I'd tackle the Great North Run and finally decided I ought to start training for it a few weeks before the off... strangely, it wasn't a spectacular success. So, I decided to do it again the following year but somehow conspired to be even worse. The shame of leading in the roadsweepers has now got the better of me and I've become a 'proper' runner - albeit it a very slow one. A mystery ankle injury took me off the roads for two years but I made a tentative comeback in The Great North Run of 2008. Time to start again from scratch... UPDATE (15th March 2012): The 2008 comeback didn't amount to much, so I'm starting again. I've entered the Bath Half Marathon for 2013 and have a year to prepare for it.
