Notes & Comments
Christ almighty, don't know what I was thinking bobbing up on the day and entering this race. I'd been up since 6am with stomach cramps and frequent loo visits. Not to mention that my tummy had been bad all week, and I'd had a sore throat, cough and swollen glands. The chances of having a decent run were about nil. But I couldn't resist taking Darren to Sutton Park, and sharing such nostalgic and happy memories with him, and running when you feel like shite is good mental prep for ultras. The first mile I thought I was in a race. By about 2 miles I'd completely had enough, and considered walking back to the start. But I knew this wouldn't do my brain any good, so decided to just run round at a mid effort level. It was clear that my heart rate was over-elevated and l couldn't run the uphills at any speed. People passed me for the entire race. I just couldn't wait to finish! Knee was ok though. Dazz had a good run though, 47th out of 517 in 44.48. Me 215th.
