After listening to a windbag Councillor and some jeering the Dunfermline half eventually got underway 4 mins late. The course is a lot tougher than I remembered and was run in sunny and hot conditions. I struggled to hit target pace even in the first couple of miles and fell off the pace around 5 miles pouring a bottle of water over my head at every water station in an attempt to stay cool but had dried completely well before the next water station. This was my longest run since the marathon and first half in 9 months and it showed. The step up from 5 and 10K races to half marathon came as a bit of a shock. To top it off I have picked up a hip/groin injury and had to hobble back to the car skipping a warm down.

A cold bath and injury appears to have settled down quite quickly but will still take at least a couple of days off from running. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the sunburn.
Good effort Tickety. Animal is probably right - I would get a second opinion even just to ease your own mind. Enjoy the break.
