Malta Half Marathon (proper entry with splits etc.) Lovely weather (just not for running) as sunny and around 24oC, some wind which helped keep it cool. Some inclines at the start but mainly downhill with a few 'surprise' inclines along the route. Started off about right pace for planned PB but after 3 miles leg became a bit sore, that went (or I got used to ache) kept pace up for 4 miles then it dropped, really struggled in the heat and gradually got slower, realised PB wasn't on the cards and enjoyed the race a bit more, actually measured the course at 13.19 but that was probably more to do with the ups and downs and the Garmin not been 100% accurate. Some parts were a bit dusty and fumes from cars not nice but overall fantastic views and nice to run in the sun. Lots of water, sponge and powerade stations through the course which were much needed as humidity was very high (about 90% I think). Was very pleased to see the finish line and the cards with WJ waving and cheering on. Everyone did really well esp. WJB who got a PB along with the four full Marathon runners who must have been frazzled by the heat but it didn't stop Dave as he went sub 3.30 for a PB. Great weekend away at a reasonable cost and would recommend to anyone thinking of joining the next one. Back to work and cold weather now ! :(
