Oscar's Everyone Day

In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".

Sadly we lost Oscar in March 2024, so now we dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

About this parkrun

busy narrow 3 lap course on the outskirts of town.one minor undulation per lap.great start & finish location. Just over a mile walk from the train station ? must be potential for a 2 lapper to reduce congestion - maybe making more use of the river.

Free parking for 2 hours but still a very long queue for a ticket ??? Liked course over bridge to start then 3 hill reps surely they could change this. No cafe at finish Uni one closed. Morrisons nearby everyone seemed to go. Watch out for Foxy 😜

Starting on campus, run out over wooden boardwalk over river into Becketts park. 3 laps around park, with hill up to road each lap. Return over bridge & around back of university building before finishing parallel to start. Free parking 2 hours.

Free parking and toilets in building right at start. 2 lap course with 1 hill per lap. Friendly volunteers and nice course running over bridge and river into park before returning to the campus.

A nice 3 lapped on good paths that pulls in tourists for the U and North. 2 hours free parking and a coffee hut. Toilets in the senate building.

start and finish at University campus, with 3 laps of Becket's park inbetween, linked by bridge
tarmac course, with an incline you go up 3 times (my view is it's an evil hill, but some may like it)
free parking for 2 hours, still need to get a ticket
