Big Dan running man
Hi I've run a marathon before but my pacing was awful and I know I need to keep it steady around 9 mins a mile, but knowing and doing are very different. Tech I've used so far doesn't help me much so far whether fitbit or map my run as I can only adjust every half mile. Listening to my body doesn't work either.

Any advice on how to run evenly.

Welcome Big Dan.

Can you do some runs at a track, where you can get feedback on your pace every 400m. Some target paced runs might help to give you a 'feel' for the pace.

Some marathons, and other races, have pacers that might help you to keep at a steady pace.

Welcome Dan.

Even parkruns often have pacers. I know it's only 5K but it might be good pacing training. The times I've toddled along behind them, their pacing has been spot on.

i don't know what tech you have used, but I suggest that you know your race pace, set you Garmin to display pace and stick to it. This will mean checking you garmin every 30 seconds or so in the first 10 miles but it's the only to stick to race pace and not speed up. If you can stick to race pace in the first 10 miles, you should be ok, but keep checking just to be sure
