I'd agree with RiC.

You'll have bad patches. They'll (usually!) pass if you are sensible about things.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I'm with flanker. There will be lows but you'll come through them. Also, start really easy and walk the hills.

Hi JK.
Working 13+ hours per day so training is not too good. On the positive side - I'm having a long taper.

Oh dear, but as they say, better undertrained than overtrained! Hope it goes well for you, anyway. I've gone down the horrendous-chest-infection and difficult-to-fix-right-quad-injury route with my training so far this year. Back to running, but very doubtful about making the time. Think I'll just be there trying to enjoy the experience and get as far as I can!

rhb..never done one personally but my wife does them regularly. My observations are that she trusted in her training and executed in a way that felt good for her. She experimented during the months leading up to her first one (as you all do of course). She also prepared a list way before the event of things that needed to be done/packed etc--this has been used (and re-jigged where necessary) on all subsequent ultras. Just like 57.5 degrees though...always run to the pace that you have found comfortable and manageable over a period of several hours. No point in going off like a hare!

Hi JK

My best Comrades (a slow 9:25) was after a bad chest infection that became bronchitus. No running for four weeks and then Comrades. Hope you have a great run.

Cheers for the tips folks, fully expect stuff to not go to plan along the way, all part of the fun I hope!
