tbh I have no idea how they get to the shortlist.. not sure if people get nominated or there's a selection made by some person/group/committee or what.

I definitely don't know. Seems a bit strange to leave Carol out though .... not that I imagine she'll be bothered in the slightest.

Actually, her husband lurks around here and might well be along soon to tell me to shut up!

I only know Sally on the list and think that she is totally deserving of the award.

Hmmm. Perhaps the news of who is doing well off-road doesn't travel well. So Jasmin Paris, winner of arguably the toughest multi-day endurance race in the UK and one of the best female off-road runners for many years is not deserved also? I mean, it's easy to break the course record at the Fellsman isn't it? p.s. Don't misunderstand me, I'm sure Sally is a wonderful, talented runner and absolutely deserves the nomination. She would leave me for dead. |

It's chalk and cheese really, and to be completely honest apart from Debbie Martin-Consani I'm struggling to name another top female off-road runner.

Could argue forever about the list (though I do agree with NE) but for me the stand out female in the list given has to be Jasmin. She was the only person who really pushed the overall winner at the Dragons Back and made it a race beyond Day 2. Plus she set CRs pretty much everywhere she ran, consistently finishing at the front end of some very hard races. The only time I can remember her being beaten was by Emelie Forsberg at the Glen Coe Skyline and even there she was 5th overall.

What's chalk and cheese FR? Pretty much everyone on that list has significant off-road performances as part of their resume for the year so surely appraising their relative merits surely has to form part of casting an intelligent vote that has any integrity? Or is it just an exercise in seeing which nominee has the most friends?

Going back to the list I do find it slightly curious that it includes Elisabet Barnes, who achieved her significant win at the Marathon des Sables with SWE against her name? A recent Raidlight press release welcoming her to their team for 2016 refers to her as a Swede living in Britain, is that really a UK athlete? Will the US be voting for Mo as the US distance runner of 2015?
