Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Tonight our club run is listed as "Hill Training". I don't like hills, especially in unseasonably hot weather. So I am heading to Derby to run in a mile race. Might even stay on to do the 5k afterwards. They are both flat as a flatfish that has been run over by a steam roller.

I know this is going massively against the grain for this forum, but can I ask a serious training question.

I can happily knock out 50 - 60 miles on the bike, it doesn't kill me but I'm not quick. What's the best way to get that speed up. I went 3:30 at Staffs last year, I'd like to reduce that down by a bit...

1. Ride your bike ride your bike ride your bike
2. Hurt yourself hurt yourself hurt yourself
3. Buy more kit

Srsly 1 and 2 require a structured training programme over winter which is going to have some volume and some hard turbo sessions to build that engine up. 3 risks divorce, but helps make the most of 1 and 2...

Top name TRO.

At the risk of sounding like a monoglot cyclist, the BC plans are pretty good.

You could just do a shit load of

1 - ride your bike lots in zone 1 and 2 building a huge aerobic engine

I am pretty sure I hurt myself much less than TRO so shall skip option 2

:-)

OPTION 3 IS CRUCIAL

if in doubt buy better kit

If not in doubt buy better kit

Just because you can

BUY BETTER KIT
