Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cav has tweeted he denies any wrong doing. He thinks Veelers veered into him.

the official wesbite says:
'One of Marcel Kittel's lead-out men, Tom Veelers, looked right, then left to see where his sprinter was and he bumped shoulders with Mark Cavendish and thumped onto the tarmac. That took the wind out of the sails of the British champion just as he was poised to start his sprint'
they aren't blaming him

My opinion changes depending on which angle I view the incident from. Overhead not his fault, head on his fault. Cavendish's pretend ignorance of the initial question afterwards and his demeanour thereon leads me to think he knew he was in the wrong.

I think Cav genuinely doesn't think he's done anything wrong. He always reacts over the top to things. Remember what he was like at the olympics. Veelers & his team had more to gain by slowing Cav down than Cav did knocking Veelers off. He got in Cav's way & Cav was going for the win tis all.

I'm not sure you can read much into his comments afterwards. Rather than necessarily feeling guilty I maybe think he just expected to be blamed and seems not to like speaking to the press much!

While not entirely at fault, he has to 'shoulder' some of the blame - so to speak
