Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thank you :-) Yes, he was knackered when we got in. Just how I like him! His mate George the golden retriever slept through the prize giving :-)

I met two GSD too - a black male and an, um, 'usual colour' female (sorry, my knowledge of the correct term for dog colours seems to be a bit lacking!) They were beautiful (I paid particular attention to their backs, which were a little bit sloping, but I not very).

I saw a fat GSD the other day. The owner was waking it with a small Staffie. He said, "the dogs haven't been out for a couple of weeks so they're getting a long walk today, around 3 miles"
I guess if they have lazed around for a couple of weeks then 3 miles *is* a long walk.

We get a lot of people at work who want an ‘active’ dog that is good for 2-3 miles twice a day. I suppose the idea of active is very subjective. Suffice to say they don’t always end up with really ‘active’ dogs.

Cookie has decided to become more expensive. Thread members may remember just after we got him he was kicked by a horse. Subsequent x-rays and vet checks revealed hip dysplacia and a luxating patella on his right side. In the last month or so he’s been jamming the brakes on during walks. Sometimes looking for treats, other times looking a bit worried. Vets today for annual check up and boosters. I mentioned this and asked them to check his joints. They found discomfort and pain in his right hip, likely to be arthritis at 6 yrs old. It looks like he’ll be starting old man supplements very soon.
