Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I cannot believe people are this stupid! Just had a conversation with someone whose housemate had been advised by her school NOT to test as that would mean the whole household has to isolate. And she said this whilst sitting next to another colleague. I may have been a little forceful in my response...

I'm reasonably well thanks CyclopsTOER! How are you?

I've not posted here before, though I've lurked. I'm a Lecturer. who's worked off campus completely since March. Perhaps more relevant to most posts here, I'm Chair of Governors at my local primary school. Our head and her staff have been doing us proud working through with consistently low staff numbers for the last two months. Not many actual cases amongst staff nor pupils, but pretty strict adherence to school-bubble and family isolations.

Glad we're at the end of semester. Had my last teaching session today, and a day off tomorrow. Just made it, but it was getting pretty hairy at times. Last week I managed to mess up the invites for two meetings.

6 working days to go 😀. I'm actually feeling happier now than I was at the start of the term, but that's because it's my first term here and I'm settling in. We've only had a couple of cases at our school of 1000 pupils (that we know of) but half of S2 are isolating until the end of term. The school my son goes to (over 1000 pupils) has had zero cases (that we know of). I'm surprised by that, I keep thinking in going to catch it.

Thanks for asking cyclops. How are you doing?

We are all very tired but staggering on. Only had one positive case in school which led to the class, its teacher and teaching assistant isolating. It would be the biggest class though - 38 children! Apart from that, we've had one teacher need two weeks' isolation because her mother test positive and a total of 15 children self isolate due to family members testing positive. Work has gone home as paper copies for the 'odd' children and the class have had virtual lessons with the teaching live on Google Classroom (and recorded for those who can't watch at the time).

We finish tomorrow lunchtime. I am not sure that many staff will be going to the staff lunch at the end of the day - I haven't been into the refectory all term and won't start now!

We haven't had any positive cases, one of the tutors is having to isolate so I will be spending tomorrow with year 9.

We'll be finishing next Thursday. 3 positive staff, and, I think, 10 positive children. Year groups out, staff members out, odd classes here and there. Not including the whole classes sent home because of a teacher or pupil in there class, we've had well in excess of 200 children off isolating at various points, either for themselves or others.

And in the school where I'm on the governing board the number of staff positives is considerably higher.

There are enough educators on here that I thought it might be nice to have somewhere supportive to rant and problem solve.
