Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I used to use proper oats (Tesco Scottish mainly) which I added water to and then microwaved for a couple of minutes. To serve: add a splash of milk (in those days, semi-skimmed) and a spoonful of Tate and Lyle's Golden Syrup.

But then I got sweet-talked by Quaker oats Oats so simple, Golden syrup variety...it tasted nicer, I could use the packet to measure out the "right" amount of milk (skimmed, nowadays)...I was hooked :-( *sobs for forgiveness from proper porridge eaters*

Fleecy, I've spotted those added bran things, but never bought them, thanks for the review.

WS: think normal porridge but with sawdust sprinkled in there and you have the taste and consistency of the bran-bastardised oats.

The lavender was an impulse purchase (never go shopping when hungry) and I could not think of any other use for it. It is quite nice with the other flavours.

I'm sure lavender would be nice in ice cream or something, most unconvinced about porridge!

Need to do plain oatsosimple versus Tesco oats really. With diagrams, and a proper conclusion.

On my desk by 3pm.

Factor in Scott's Porage Oats and you've got yourself a representative comparison. Don't forget Venn diagrams, too...

I'm very recent convert to the joys of porridge. So supermarket own oats, full fat raw milk and some fruut on top - blueberries this morning. I can't believe it's taken me over 40 years to try it :-o

Well porridge seems to crop up regularly so I thought it could be worth a thread.
