ct - some success with injections, but it's a cover up not a cure.

I've tried the strassburg sock but it makes my toes go numb. My fizz recommended Orthaheels and I've been wearing them a lot, they do provide relief but hasn't cured it. scholl.com I strapped my foot up ready for a run yesterday then bottled out because the rain was torrential. But I've kept the strapping on overnight and it's stopped that initial wrench on the PF when you get out of bed in the morning so it's feeling quite reasonable at the moment. I think I might experiment by keeping the strapping on all the time for a few days and see what happens. Got the cortisone jab booked in at the docs next Tuesday. Still hoping for miracle cure before then! |

I've previously been wearing flipflops at work, this can't help so I've now swapped to my running trainers. Looks stupid but don't care. Tiger, I might try and strap mine and see if that works? Did a fizz show you how? I'm seeing mine later.

in my experience - Once you get inflammation in the PF it is going to last months, I have started to repeatedly inject them and just find after a couple of years it seems to burn itself out and the injections allow running whilst that happens. US guidance improves the chance of success Of course you have to find and remove the reason why you injured it in the first place - Arch supports and twisting feet as you run. There is a belief that repeated injections may weaken and predispose rupture of the PF - But I have never seen or heard of this. I just suspect we may be OK to use more steroids in PF than we do. I am thinking out loud here and not claiming any new breaking knowledge - discussing theroies amongst sufferers can help the curer to develop new ideas for research so please take this post in this light |

CT - re injections - my consultant said nothing about them breaking down the PF but did say something about the fatty tissue/padding in the heel potentially being damaged.

Hendo - yes that is true but injecting under US guidance should reduce that

and as each injection may give 6 months releif - That means 4 injections in the lifetime of the PF

Exactly what I feel GF! I'm feeling like an experiment of one here, what causes PF and what gets rid of it seems to be different for us all. Both my fizz and sports masseur recommended I see my GP for the injection and the masseur has had it done herself, it certainly helped her get over PF about 18 months ago. |

GF, masseur showed me how to strap my foot. I'm going to Bedfont parkrun Saturday if you fancied going along I could show you what I do there?
