Hurrah 🥳 The forum lives on. Enjoyed the race report SG Glad to hear Si is on the up. Reasonable 46M week from 6 days including a 15M LR Wednesday, 4M of track Friday with 10x100 in the low 5:xx range & a fresh parkrun Saturday: Bolberry Down in S Devon. Pretty flat but a mix of grass, hard trail & tarmac on the cliff tops. Blowing a gale throughout & raining from halfway too so happy enough with 21:14 for 5th. |

Yes SQ you've rightly identified me, didn't think it would be that difficult considering there's aren't many of us left! Nice turn out SG. |

I'm here on a regular basis so will do a quick catch-up. The easiest way to sum the last year up is by posting my I caught Covid in May 2023 and June 2023 was a write-off. I have been slowly trying to get back but it is slow progress. I cleared 80 miles in March 2024 and almost 90 in April. May and June have been interrupted as my Mum fell ill and passed away pretty quickly so running wasn't top priority. I am now running about 5 miles on Tuesday and Thursday, parkrun on a Saturday and a "longer" run on Sunday of about 6 miles for just over 20 a week. The weight is coming back down (162 lbs) but absolutely no speed at all yet. I've seen the doctor and she took me seriously (you go in and say you are closing in on 60 and running parkrun in 24 / 25 minutes and you are worried about being slow and you get odd looks) but no conclusions yet. We have sold our house and subject to the normal conditions will be moving to the East Midlands in August. |

Looks reasonably consistent at least for the last 3 months philip_m_jones if a little light. Here's mine for contrast |

I'm just starting to feel more positive about my parkrun times after repeated Covid infections between July'22 & Mar'24 combined with injury ruined them. The first Covid infection was just after I had run 19:02 for 5K & since then I've only run 4 sub-20 5K times & the last of those was in September '22. I was closing in on it at the end of last year but injured my hamstrings resulting in acute Piriformis induced sciatica. Gradually been building back since New Year & managed a few sub-21 times in May. Progress has stalled recently but at least my new plateau is sub 21:30 rather than North of 22:30. Keep on aspiring and grinding it out PMJ |

Forrest Jooligan I completely agree it is light but it is hard to know why as it may well be chicken and egg. I eventually settled down to Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday as that seems to work well, so it seems I need the rest days between runs. It is hard to tell if I am slow because I am just doing 20 easy miles a week or if there is something wrong which means 20 miles is all I can do a week.

Blimming heck philip_m_jones those are 2 massive real life events there. Sorry to hear on both, on your loss and on losing you from being a local buddy. Always remember you mentioning a move would happen post retirement, but can't quite recall where that was going to be too - maybe thought it would be SW for some reason. Assume you're not retiring and can work from home these days? Or have you made that step too? I suppose I'll always remember you as being about 45 and Bus being 40! Even though I am literally in between those 2 myself now. |

And not surprised ills and affected training play havoc with all things. I'm still feeling my way back in myself, not quite sure what my paces are and should be. However, i'll press on and work as "hard" as feels right. |

I appreciate being able to read an update of where you are PMJ, although it’s full of tough content. My condolences on everything that you’ve had to deal with of late. I hope that you are excited for the move. I think we should be having a bit of a farewell Black Park parking action to send you off. There’s been several times where I’ve looked at your Do you feel generally unwell or is that you’re just slow? You know what I mean with slow….you were previously very fast of course! Given that, I would expect you to be running a bit quicker tbh even off the reduced mileage.Hope that the doc can point you in the right direction. All the best. |

Hi there - this thread started in 2010 over on RW and started as an improvement thread for myself under Moraghan's coaching, through to more of a general collaboration tool and place to share training and long winded race reports.
Thanks to the fetch community for allowing us to move over, and we'd welcome loads of new contributors adding to the thread, as we were definitely running on empty with a small bunch of posters near the end!
