I need a week at a gentle pace to come down from the stress I've had to deal with.

Most definitely! At least a week I'd say... How are you feeling?

OK. I'm going to have a lie-in tomorrow, go for a short run then work on the exercises the careers adviser gave me. I'm on call to help out a friend with a vintage fair, so could earn a few pounds there. It's 5 mins cycle away. I'll help her break the whole thing down at the end anyway and pop back to hers for a few glasses of wine afterwards.

I was wondering if you are feeling relieved, as the stress must have been mounting? I have come to a point this week where the stress over the money to pay the mortgage is probably less bad than the stress over the job and its insecurity and the way I am being treated, after 19 years :'(

I got logged onto Linkedin this morning. I'll see if that turns anything up. I'm actually a really good networker, even though I can't seem to network myself into a job (or a boyfriend). I often get "you know everyone" from friends and acquaintances. It's just because I talk to people, have wide interests and the largish city I live in is actually v small in terms of how people are linked to each other.

I just started and set up a linked in account and am joined to the networks of some pretty good people... Not sure what it will throw up...

Feeling very proud of myself now - I've drafted out the slides for this presentation and just did my first run through actually saying the words out loud rather than just thinking them through in my head. First time I'd let a stopwatch anywhere near it... presentation is meant to be 10 minutes, run through 1 was 9 minutes 56 seconds...

You clever little Pie. Add in a pregnant pause and you're at 10!;)
I bet that's boosted your confidence somewhat.

Yup I'm not expecting it to be absolutely bang on, but I now know that the level of detail is right and I just need to practice the delivery. Which is a good thing as I really need to email the slides to them tonight (deadline is 5pm tomorrow but as I don't have access to my personal email during working hours I need to get it out tonight or before work in the morning).
Must remember to take my speakers notes off the version I email to them.
This morning I've been sitting working through all the requirements in the job specification (and a couple of points in their strategy document which are relevant to the role) and coming up with good examples for each and how best to spin them so they look as relevant as possible. I've been typing away so I can print it out and read it on the day and it's up to 9 pages already
And there is one specific sort of agreement mentioned in the job spec. As there's a "technical test" I've been reading some drafting notes for the things you need to pick up in said type of agreement...
So much for a day mooching round the shops in Glasgow! What makes it even more bizarre is that the hotel I'm sitting in has policemen on the door and ambulance workers coming in to get refreshments and a host of tv crews outside...
I'm meant to be meeting up with the others at 1pm so I'm pretty much done for the morning and will log off and be sociable for a while

Good work YP, sounds like you are made for it
I have been networking this afternoon. A friend up the valley owns a lovely converted farmhouse and he has converted barns to a very high standard. I thought of using them for a base for my MTB weekends, transpires they are ideal and on top of that: it is also the ideal location for my yoga therapy weekends, for which I had not found a good venue yet! RESULT!
