Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

oi you
My reading of the website I posted earlier (and there others coming to similar conclusions) suggests that you'll get maximum battery life (in terms of charge/discharge cycles) by not charging to 100% and by limiting the depth of discharge as much as possible.
If you're after maximum capacity (time to discharge) then obviously you'll need to charge to 100%. If you've got an external battery pack it might be worth using that from the start rather than waiting for the Garmin to run flat.

Some mysterious new watches that Garmin hasn't released yet will support 3rd party apps:
dcrainmaker.com
looks, at the moment for the preview at least, as though you can get into that FOC.
This could be even more fun than the FE API. And is probably going to cause me to spend money.

Well, I did hard reset, used Garmin Express to ensure firmware on latest version (4.50 - is that 4 dot fifty or 4.5.0? 50 updates?!) So RMA number being offered, and I think I'll go for it. Getting 60s warning of low battery then unit off isn't much use. And 15 hours rather than 18 or 19 is poor too, given this one is 5 months old and I only bought it a year a go (1 replacement for leaky screen already) Hmmm. Still love my Garmin tho. :-) G

Damnit - strap came off mine this morning when I took it off - tiny tear on the watch itself where the strap hinge is. :( Any point sending it back to the manufacturer (it's about 16 months old) or can anyone recommended a Garmin restrapper?

I mentioned the Garmin 920xt to my wife this afternoon in relation to Xmas. Not too awful a reaction. "At least it's not another fucking bike".
