Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Stumbled across this thread when I should have been working. Good to see others are enthusiastic about orienteering. To me the big issue is how to get runners to cross over and give it a go, are they scared of going off road or getting lost or that orienteers are a bunch of nutters and they might get infected? I think anyone following the advice RooA gives will have a good time and would be likely to return.

Anyone who runs can benefit from a bit of navigation practice, any fell runners out there who have run like headless chickens may admit this. I'm organiser for a series near Manchester this May which will include a long Red course (purple if you like) with good distance but nothing to hard navigationally.

And in case any road runners have a mud phobia we are bringing orienteering to the centre of Stockport this June for a course with a mass start but still very based on maps and controls.

Anyone who is tempted look for the race in race finder.

We're all off to the British Champs this weekend in Scotland so will unfortunately miss the first BRTT at Bramhall Park, which we're going to use as much as we can for training.

Just seen the results for my Orange course on Saturday. I was 5th of 10 people. Not bad considering how much time I wasted. I reckon that without my extreme error I would have been 2nd. Just behind a 7 year-old!!! :-)

Roo, the next couple of informal events for my local club clash with other stuff I've got planned. So I can't see myself doing any more for a couple of months. :-(
