Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Normal bits and bobs at our local haunt today - nice to see three oystercatchers and plenty of lapwing, although they weren’t very noisy today. Few gadwall out and about and shoveller too. Reed buntings having mini-adventures as well.

Lots of skylark here today too. Buzzards "my" side of the A1, red kites the other :)
Little egret on the river again :)

Think I also saw an otter, or rather it's tail, can't be sure though.

Otters are amazing. I saw two really quite close up last summer on the canal. They obviously unnerve everything around two

I know there is at least one pair along that stretch of the river, as the local anglers complain that they dig under the fence and get into the fishing lakes, but this is the closest I've come to seeing one here.

Go out for the last 20 mins of light and keep ‘em peeled for any disturbance on the water ;-)

- I'd fall in the dark on the way home! (and have to walk past the lorry park in the dark, which I don't really fancy)

Found a barn owl pellet under the box in the big old oak tree :) hope that means one has made itself at home there again.
