Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I saw a rakish looking raptor today for maybe 2 or 3 seconds. Not right for kestrel or peregrine plus too big for merlin and wrong territory). I wonder if it was a hobby? For a second I thought term or even parakeet the wings were that slim nerd

Osprey hunting over the Res as I did my evening run :-) A first for me here. They pass through here during migration fairly often and take trout but they don't hang around very long (though mine is the 3rd or 4th sighting of one this week and it is being suggested that one is resting up locally) so it really is a case of being in the right place at the right time.

We've got reports of a couple locally, so might go and have a look over the weekend.

Chiffchaffs singing the last couple of days in my local patch. Don't recall hearing them for a few weeks. Do they start up again in autumn? Also, lots of house martins, gorging themselves ready for their big trip (presumably not too far off now).

Chiffchaff singing here too. I always think it happens when the day length is the same as at the start of the breeding season. But I might just be making this up.

We had one sing for months were I used to live but I’ve not heard one here now for a long time (or on my travels)

Also, thanks to a chiffchaff sitting just outside my window, I’ve now realised what I've heard cheeping away in the garden quite a lot recently.
