Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sh*t. Did it in 2008. Supported a number of years through the dark times - fox chewed the big screen cable, neds stole the water bottles, dog ate homework etc. and swore never to do it.. Plenty more fab maras. Signed up last week to do it as my 10th anniversary of first mara.

Hope it doesn't go closer to city personally cos it will be bliddy hilly. Net downhill is its biggest plus point at the mo!

I'll go with it's being changed to be free, subsidised by public purse, because our independent Scottish government understands the value of promoting sports and healthy activity as part of a progressive social policy. Ooooh, political! :-) G

To be fair 2006 was pre the current organisers who started in 2007 and retrained the princes st start but in the opposite direction.

Ah - it was my last marathon last year - if I'd known I'd almost die this year I possibly would have kept my place in Berlin as my final marathon instead. I did like my other outing at Edinburgh in 2011 as it was a catalyst to 2 of the best things to happen in my life - 1. being sub 3'ing at my next marathon and 2. being getting together with my soon to be husband!

Will be interested to hear the announcement...

The 3 Cs in life - choice, chance and change.

Make a choice, take a chance, change your life.

And a response from a (Scottish?) user - Oaft. Yer dragging the arse out of this one!

I've just seen in the latest Mens Running magazine on a map of UK marathons it shows Edinburgh as somewhere around Elgin - that'd be a bit of a change...
