Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I tried to post a link to a version of "and the band played waltzing matilda" - a very poignant song part tribute to the ANZAC troops, part anti-war song from down under. Has been recorded by many artists - version I have on ipod is by Mike Harding (not an Aussie)

I am insulted that you think Crowded House are Aussies. They're a kiwi band. Awesome, but definitely kiwi.

Anyway, you could go for a bit of 80s John Farnham:

I'd also like to recommend Cat Empire...

I asked my aussie colleague, and she gave me this list:
1. Beds are Burning – Midnight Oil
2. The Church - Under The Milky Way
3. Original Sin – INXS
4. The Mercy Seat - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

5. The Honeymoon Is Over - The Cruel Sea

6. Friday on My Mind – The Easybeats
7. Before Too Long – Paul Kelly
8. Don’t Dream it’s Over - Crowded House

9. Down Under - Men at Work
10. John Farnham - You're The Voice (for its comedy value)

You've set me off on Australian music today on Spotify. I do hope you'll do the same for Waitangi Day and New Zealand music on 6th Feb.

So, now listening to James Reyne: Reckless and Boys Light Up. Also lining up some Hunters & Collectors, Jimmy Barnes & Cold Chisel.

DeeGee you might want to consider a combined Australia/New Zealand playlist on April 25 - ANZAC Day.
