I enjoyed (most of) it ... almost 2 min slower than last year but to be expected in current condition. Got the early pacing right and had a good canal section (despite the nasty headwind) but then got a bad stitch between aboput 8.5K and 9.5K ... but otherwise fun. My brand new trail shoes now look ancient.

As do my road shoes, which I was cursing between 4 and 5k.

After saying that I hated it last year and wasnt looking forward to it, I had a great run and really enjoyed it! I had my trail shoes on and saw a few people struggle in road shoes in the mud section but then they caught up with me on the canal path.

The annoying thing was that I'd done it before but completely forgot about the muddy bit and could only remember the more solid stuff and left the trail shoes in the boot!

YP - I think I was behind you most of the way, I was trying to hang on to another of my club members (this was a club championship race for us) and managed to pass you both on the bit before turning back into the playing field where the finish was - I think you both slowed slightly and I took advantage then panic ran to the finish in case my club member caught me up. I thought you looked strong all the way round ![]() |

Was it my sex breathing which gave it away Dan? Too much canal. FAR too much. |

lol Chromey ... didn't I mention the headwind on the canal being a bitch? A momento of the canal at about 8K, courtesy of Mr Jones... http://www.fetcheveryone.com/gallery-showphoto.php?filename=23931_52412.jpg I beat my mate by only 5 seconds and I can't even see him on that picture ... which might explain why he was doubled up retching at the end with the medics hovering around him. Some sporadic stalking online suggests that the times are 3-4 minutes down for those folk that also ran Dewsbury in March ... I think that's about right, as last year I was almost 3 min slower at ABC compared with Bradford. So, take away 3 minutes ... it made me feel better about life anyway. |

Can't believe the sun came out just for the duration of the race. I had a horrible time, especially the first 3km when I was ready to give up. Felt a bit better coming back along the canal cos I'd given up by then, but was really depressed by my time - over 2 mins slower than last time I did it. Good atmosphere as always though.
