I think I *may* be getting better. Does just *more* swimming lead to improvement.
Quick question swimmy types pls... how to do tumble turns. I tried a few tonight. Got maybe 3 out of 5 right! Doesn't half look lame when it goes wrong! :-)G

Well done for sorting it all out Pinchy. My personal challenge is to build aerobic endurance as my 400m time is below par given my 100m time and whilst I didn't do a 1000m at the end of the challenge I know it would be worse. Well done everyone for keeping at it.

yay for Rach and thanks pinchy
I am pleased 9and very surprised) to report a 12.41 750TT the other night. Will def try to do 1000m in the next fisheveryone challenge.
Happy-swimming more will help but improving technique will provide much bigger improvements in terms of both pace and (possibly more importantly) efficiency. As for Tumble turns, indeed a skill that needs practice. There are a few clips on Youtube that show it broken down, I'll try to fine one (when I'm not at work!)

Happy - if you got three out of five right, you should tell us! I also am learning it, so far I have done one right in about three sessions. Even hit my head on the bottom a few times, into the lane ropes, mis the wall totally etc. I hear that once you crack it that's it though, let me know!

Idea - we could do a quicky challenge with 50m, 200m and 800m, but with two "race days" to improve - one at three weeks, one at six weeks - what do you think?

Just posted on the other swim thread, but I finally brought my 400m swim time down to 9:02 last night - and there's easily a few more seconds in there to take it under 9 mins. Too late for the swimmy challenge, but it shows that consistent swimming sessions do pay off. And it's a good base to build my triathlon training from. So I'm a happy bunny!

Hi everyone, i've just entered the fetch forum onthe tri side.
I am also looking to improve my swimming and i've just found some reading material that may interest some people.
I've only read part so far but it makes loads of sense and it's called Total Immersion Swimming.
I hope i'm not re-addressing old news, but this seems like good technical advice to me.
A few club mates suggest it's not applicable to open water wet suit swimming but my view is that if you can perfect pool swimming, surely you can transfer improvements to open water.
Does anyone have a view on this?
