J-Wall - feel free to point and laugh, but isn't 15k at PMP going to feel easy? I rather suspect I'm missing something here...

I would agree that a PMP run would 'seem' to be more beneficial but wanted to give the schedule a fair go as it is written. I think slight adaptions may need to be made if things just don't pan out, I just wondered if other folk had had the same issues. I didn't think about using a tready but thinking about it would definately take out the frustrations of having to people dodge when trying to concentrate on holding a pace.

Well I'm 'hoping' to be able to run the mara at 8:40m/m pace which to many will seem slow but for me seems a little scary having not actually run any of my schedule at this PMP.

I am slightly biased because I am working to a schedule that (for me) is high volume, in which case more than 12 miles of marathon paced running will screw me up for a couple of days.
Tinytia which schedule are you doing as mine include some half marathon pace runs and some long runs where the 14 out of 17 say miles are at PMP.
You could always do more than 15km at PMP or do 15km but at half marathon pace. Or even make up a kind of interval workout where you do 5km reps at marathon pace with minute recoverys for example.
15km of PMP will feel fairly easy if you are working off low volume but as I said for me it wouldn't be.
Also it is the recovery from racing 15km, even if it feels easy, it may take a long time to recover

I thought the P&D bok was very good, but I was unable to stick to the "plan" - a shame as I'm sure that it would have paid dividends.

I have a question - has anyone got both the serious road racing book and the marathon one? If so as I have only the marathon one is it worth getting the road racing one too?

I have and I would say not. If you want a Road Racing book I would recommend the one by Alberto Salazar.

I'm doing the 24wks upto 55mpw P&D mara schedule. I missed one of the runs that was supposed to be 16m with 12m at pmp due to illness but have followed all the rest of the schedule as written. I see that the long run after this week is 17m with 14m at pmp. I'm doing 20m LSR tomorrow (this will be my 2nd 20m, have also done 19.5m multi terrain run at Salisbury 5.4.3.2.1 event) and feel I have a good base.

Don't worry about missing one run, the schedules are based on the fact that 90% completion is to be expected.

I think (hope!) that one of the key points is doing long runs within 20-10% of PMP so that should help compared to people who do long runs slowly
