Anyone got any ideas what might be causing my achilles pain. It has been with me about 6 weeks now, not getting any worse but refusing to go away. I have a hunch it may connect to my ITB which may be causing my foot to turn inwards. I'm taking extra care on my ITB stretches (which I do tend to neglect a bit, which is silly) to see if that helps.
I've kept running on it, even upping my mileage and it's got no worse. I don't think it's tendonitis as there's no thickening. Am, I being a silly billy to keep running on it? I've given myself a short time frame to go from fat lazy post-new baby doing nothing to Cov half. I don't really want to be held back by a pesky niggle like this!

If it's been going on for 6 weeks it may become more of a niggle if you're not careful. I've long term achilles problems and if you ignore them too much they do tend to get worse. I understand you not wanting to be held back but if it gets worse you could be out even longer. My achilles problems are caused by an old injury but made worse by tight calves & a slightly weird running technique. Could you go get it checked at your GP or physio? Don't want to sound too doom & gloom but I know from painful experience what continuing to run on injuries can do

P.S. Ultrasound & acupuncture work well on achilles - in my experience of course, I am no professional!

I recommend you see a physio for diagnosis and treatment. Don't risk turning a niggle into an injury (like I've done!)

Meh. I expect you're right. Perhaps I'll have a trip to the physio next week.

Good luck. Hopefully prompt treatment will mean it's not a long term prob. Let us know how you both get on.

Mine said no running or cycling for 12 weeks. Snowdonia Marathon is in nine weeks.
I'm going for a second opinion.

The general consensus among friends in person and fetchies on other threads is that 12 weeks of not running is NOT the way forward - just thought i'd post that in case anyone thought they might have to rest for 6 months!
