Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

About Me
I bought a Wii fit on 11th May 2008 and changed my life by losing 6 stone over the next 10 months. Don't get me wrong,it was not the Wii that did it, in the end I just used it to record my weight. It took lots of exercise coupled with eating smaller portions.

My first ever running event was a 3k fun run in November 2008...I went back to the same venue a year later to beat my coach in the 1/2 marathon.

Back in 2009, 2010 and 2011 my real enjoyment came from the challenge of triathlons. In 2009 I did 3 sprints and one standard distance. In 2010 I went through the distances with 1 each of sprint, standard, half Ironman and a full Ironman. In 2011 I continued to concentrate on endurance events with further half and full Iron distance triathlons completed. I also gained my "Leader in running fitness" qualification.

2012: I had so much planned but it was a total disaster as illness, injury and the effect of my fathers death all took its toll. On a positive note, I did help guide 2 people to their first half marathons and change my running style from being a heel striker to mid/fore foot.

2013: Felt as though I was back at square one with trying to lose the weight gained in 2012 and getting some sort of fitness back. First real challenge was a "sky" trail run in Romania but for much of the summer I just kept the running ticking over whilst preparing for the Prudential London 100 (cycle sportive). Once that had been accomplished I gradually got back into running and have started training for the Brighton marathon. As I have never trained specifically for a marathon I am enjoying the challenge.

Going into 2014 I know I still have weight to lose but i'm hoping that the marathon training will help me achieve that and later in the year I will be trying to get closer to the PB's I set back in 2009. Perhaps my triathlon days are over...
