Up until about 2012 I was a complete rookie runner that had only ever really run short distances (longest is about 4 miles). I used to be quite good at the long-ish distance runs at school and really loved it. It wasn't until a few years ago I decided to go back to running. It went well at first, but I didn't tackle it in a very sensible fashion and was dogged by injuries. Now I have joined a running club and have taken part in races and distances I never thought I would be doing a couple of years back. Now clocked my first three half marathons and signed up to my first full marathon in 2013. I don't think I will concentrate on these long distances after that and plan to go back to the short fast stuff, but you never know whether I might develop a taste for it!
