Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Maidenhead Half Marathon

Well organised first running of this event, got off at 9.32am. Muggy morning, making the first few miles warm but rain was promised and arrived around the time I got to Mile 8, very welcome it was too!

Route out from Maidenhead towards Bray via Bray Marina, on to Cookham and back into Maidenhead. A really nice, flattish course with good support in the villages and town.
I passed a lady from Reading Roadrunners at Mile 9 and was determined not to let her get ahead of me before the finish, she didn't - club rivalry in Reading - NEVER!!

I pulled up at Mile 10 with a 'niggle' in left calf and tried to stretch it / massage it out - nothing changed so I carried on. When I went to up the pace in the last 500m the niggle became very painful and I ended up limping to the finish! . My first running injury not bought about by a fall! It hurts to try to stretch so I wont, I will rest it a bit and see how it goes. So gladI remembered to tke a change of clothes with me, I could have rung out all layers of running gear!

First half - Av pace 7.46
End of Race Av pace 7.51

Now it's time for that glass of wine I have been promising myself all week............

I would do this one again :-)

I hope it's only a niggle and nothing more, fast time all considered.

Just clicked on your 'Wilderbeast' tag and got one myself, not sure I'll ever reach gold.

Welldone I found it very hard in the first half the hummidity was 89% when I got home, I enjoyed the rain on this occasion.
Please wait... saving your change.
