Notes & Comments

Trimpell 20 Mile Road Race - a really lovely course along cycle paths next to the River Lune through Lancaster and back to Morecambe. My initial plan was to warm up for 5-10 miles and then try to hit MP until the end. Well I started off too quickly but was maintaining a very even pace, my first two 5 mile splits were identical at 34:20. I began to tire around the half marathon point when there was a really windy stretch of road higher up above the river. I hit 15 miles with a 5 mile split of 35:30 so was definitely slowing and then I really began to struggle home in 36:20 tailing a couple of runners as much as possible. Much thought needed about my plan for the Blackpool Marathon in 3 weeks and my quest for a sub-3 hour time.
