Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

The London Marathon. A very warm day. Challenges in getting to the start line - train broke down! Ran the race well - kept a steady pace and took on fluid at every station due to the heat. Mentally I am really happy with how the race went. Started getting some aches in the left knee at about 8 miles - around the same time as blisters started to form. Some cramping in the sceond half of the race - may have been a mix of blisters effeting my running style; inadequate warm up/stretching pre race; water I used on my aching knee causing the muscles to cool and contract. Made 4 very brief stops to stretch out on route @ 16.5, 21, 24 & 24.5 miles - ran the rest which I am very proud of after last years problems - particularly running through Docklands! Really happy with my race strategy and pace/approach. In different conditions I feel sub 4 hours is a distinct possibility. Shoes may still not be right though - 2 huge blisters in the instep of both feet as well as a couple on the next to smallest toes. What a fantastic experience and atmosphere though. Went into the race saying this would be my last, but there is no better feeling than when you swing round in front of Buck Palace and then into the Mall and that finish line is upon you. Can't imagine not doing it now!!
