Notes & Comments

Well that went OK. 8:30 or 8:31 for 55.35 miles. (Garmin left on for 11 mins by mistake.) 10th - actually ahead of Neil Rutherford, Rory McCraw etc. Though Boab had to drop out and Grant Jeans too, so that's a couple fewer. Thought about 8.5 would be good, 8 would be most that could be expected. Was on for 8 at halfway, but slowed up a lot after 35. But managed to finish reasonably strongly. Many thanks to IanS for running with me for 7 of last 8 miles. Got to chat to loads of people, wonderful support from family coming to Linlithgow, Ratho and finish. Lots of lovely supporters - Duchess, Spiced Apple, Sarah Self, santababy, whwrunner. Nice to meet becca7 at start. Stayed for about 1 hour afterward, but couldn't stay much longer, so didn't see all finishers. Things that went: went quite hard first half, slowed in second half but still ran and overtook folk; wrap, lemon cake, apple and nice juice went well; co-codamol x 7 :-O succeeds (though I dropped a few and gave 2 to Neil Rutherford); Hokas fine, slight blister right toe; chafing of bum and bits (Nike pro + vaseline not good enough!); UD vest awesome. :-) G
